Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Santa Cruz City Council expressed this Thursday, 30th, his interest in providing all locations in the municipality with infrastructure and sports equipment.
Carlos Silva presented this intention in statements to the press, at the inauguration of the Casa da Juventude de Excelência in Achada Fátima, an initiative that, according to him, emerged within the Santa Cruz Cidade Desportiva project, in partnership with the Hello Cabo Verde project Academy, and NBA basketball player Rudy Gobert.
According to the mayor, the partners mobilized around three thousand contos to equip this house, which will have a “significant” value in the lives of young people in this community and not only that, but also highlighted that they were playing basketball in the place courtyard.
The municipality’s ambition is to “transform” this house into a “more useful” space, justifying that the municipality has several talents, and it is necessary to have ambition and a commitment to promoting sport.
Focusing on the transformation of the municipality in this sector and other sporting ambitions, Carlos Silva informed that, in Achada Ponta, space is now available for the construction of the sports academy in the municipality and right next to the Olympáfrica Center.
And it is this ambition that informed the existence of several other projects, starting with the works on two grass pitches in Achada Fazenda and Cancelo, a sports board in Achada Ponta, among other initiatives, as the objective is to work to “equip each area of the municipality with infrastructure or sports equipment”.
“I believe that with all this, local talent and involvement of partners, in this case Rudy Gobert Foundation, Hello Cabo Verde and other partners, we will be able to materialize this great dream which is to turn Santa Cruz into a Sports City, from an educational and touristic perspective”, concluded the mayor.
For her part, the ambassador of the Santa Cruz Cidade Desportiva project, Andreia Levy, said that she “willingly” accepted to be the ambassador of the project and that, little by little, they are mobilizing means, in partnership with other institutions and foundations to achieve the objective drawn up, making it clear that it is something that takes time, taking into account that millions of stories are needed to do so.
The young man and resident of Achada Fátima, Flávio Furtado, representing young people in the community, said that this newly opened space will bring many benefits to young people and beyond, as it has a socio-professional guidance room and a psychologist available in the room. service room, study room with computers, among other facilities.
Furthermore, the house has a leisure space for young people with a tennis table, card games, oril, among others, taking the opportunity to invite all young people to visit the Casa da Juventude de Excelência, thus avoiding visiting other spaces that take them to paths and deviant behaviors.
