Africa-Press – Cape verde. The 15th edition of the Santo Antão agro-industrial and services fair kicked off this Saturday, at Rua Direita, in the city of Ponta do Sol, with 65 exhibitors from the three municipalities on the island of Santo Antão.
Agro-industrial products, handicrafts, livestock, lace and embroidery, paintings, ornamental plants, medicinal herbs, among others, are various goods on display at the fair.
Speaking to the press, the councilor for entrepreneurship, Sheila Andrade, highlighted that this year there was an increase in exhibitors compared to last year.
According to the mayor, the fair aims to “promote and publicize everything that is best and that is produced in Santo Antão”, in the agro-industrial sectors, fishing, agriculture, crafts and everything linked to the tourism and culture industry.
“This year we brought something new in which we set up a knowledge workshop, in which some people share a little of their experiences in terms of production. We have a gentleman from the town of Losnã who makes hoes and other tools, we have people who make drums and cut and sew”, he showed.
Cibelle Lima, a stallholder in Ribeira Grande, said she is exhibiting her products made in cold porcelain for the first time.
“My products are new in Santo Antão and have been in great demand. The fair will serve to promote more of my products,” he said.
Eric Monteiro, who is from the town of Janela, in the municipality of Paul, assured that this is the first time he has exhibited his “Gustim de Santo Antão” products at the fair.
“We have several alcoholic beverage products and their derivatives and I hope to have good sales”, he pointed out.
The 15th edition of the Santo Antão agro-industrial and services fair is part of the day’s festivities in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, which takes place on May 7th.
