Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Women Association of the Planalto Leste (Amupal), in Santo Antão, has made, in recent years, “a strong bet” in tourism and environmental projects, with the purpose of creating alternatives for the women from this plateau.
Who says so is the president of Amupal, Josefa Sousa, who highlighted, among other projects, the implementation of Casa das Caldeiras, a tourist enterprise, which has been, despite the pandemic, boosting tourism in the Planalto Leste, one of the areas most visited by tourists arriving in Santo Antão.
Thanks to Luxembourg cooperation, Casa das Caldeiras has “good conditions” in terms of accommodation, according to the President of Amupal.
In addition to this tourist unit, Amupal, which already bears the seal made in Santo Antão for products and services, has in operation an agri-food processing unit that, despite the drought hitting the Planalto Leste, has been operating, giving job for some women heads of household.
