The situation of these works was one of the issues addressed this week at a meeting between parliamentarians and the minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente.
Deputy Damião Medina, quoted by Inforpress, explained that in addition to the national museum of pilgrimages, which is being built in the city of Porto Novo, these parliamentarians also want to see the works of the Cineteatro do Paul completed, two cultural spaces that Santo Antão needs. , as they argue.
It should be noted that the national museum of pilgrimages, which will operate in the former facilities of the pozzolana factory, Porto Novo, is one of the infrastructures most awaited by cultural agents in this municipality, who have been asking for the completion of the works, estimated at 12 million escudos.
The works, which have been interrupted due to funding problems, should be resumed in 2020, within the scope of funding announced at the time by the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, but remain suspended due to alleged “budget restrictions imposed by the covid-19 pandemic”. 19”.
The museum is part of the project to safeguard the festivities of São João, which has already contemplated the requalification of the route of the festivities and which also provides for the restoration of the two chapels of São João Baptista existing in this municipality.
