Africa-Press – Cape verde. Santo Antão receives, starting this Thursday, the 28th, and during the next few days, an “unusual” movement, with the arrival on the island of “thousands” of people for Easter festivities in the three municipalities.
The promoters of the festivities say they believe that “thousands” of people, mainly from the island of São Vicente, are expected to cross Porto Grande – Porto Novo over the next few days to follow the Easter festivities in different parts of the island.
Every year, around Easter festivities, Santo Antão usually receives around four thousand people during the long weekend.
This year, in the municipality of Porto Novo, attention is focused on Tarrafal de Monte Trigo and Ribeira das Patas, where the organization promises a “hard party” during Easter, with music, theater and other entertainment activities.
In Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, the festival program, to which Inforpress had access, highlights a show with the theater company Juventude em Marcha, which presents, this Thursday, the 28th, the play Erro ou Pecado.
On the 30th, the traditional dance is scheduled with performances by MC Acondize, Léo Pereira, Ailine & Jessy and MSG Dreamer & Djeia.
In Ribeira das Patas, the highlight is the Batchart show on Saturday, the 30th, according to the program.
At a religious level, the Catholic Church has prepared a program to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which covers the city of Porto Novo and the village of Ribeira das Patas, the headquarters of the parishes of São João Baptista and São João Paulo II, respectively.
However, the shipping company Cabo Verde Interilhas informed that, in order to ensure that all Cape Verdeans have the opportunity to enjoy the Easter period with their family, it will carry out two extra trips on the Santiago/Maio/Santiago route on Friday , March 29th and Sunday, March 31st.
