Through a notice to which Inforpress had access, the Government launched the public tender to carry out rehabilitation works on four tourist trails in the municipality of Porto Novo, with the aim of “providing the benefiting regions with efficient access”.
With this, the Government also intends to address the concerns of tourism agents and communities who have been warning about the “poor condition” of these paths, which they consider “a great tourist asset” on the island of Santo Antão.
The president of the Santo Antão Tourist Guides Association, Odair Gomes, told Inforpress that “more than half” of the island’s side roads need to be rehabilitated in order to improve safety for tourists and the population.
