Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Parish of Nossa Senhora da Luz, municipality of São Domingos, Santiago, celebrates, this Thursday, the Jubilee of the 450th anniversary of its creation. The activities, which will be honored by the President of the Republic, will take place in Alcatraz Bay.
The Head of State will “prestige” the historic moment for the Catholic Church, and for Cape Verde, which had, in Alcatraz Bay, the seat of the former Captaincy of Alcatrazes and one of its oldest settlements.
The act that marks the Jubilee begins with a Cultural Exhibition and will host the presentation of the project for the future Mariano Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Luz.
The ceremonies culminate with a Eucharistic Celebration, to be presided over by Cardinal Arlindo Gomes Furtado, Bishop of the Diocese of Santiago.
