Africa-Press – Cape verde. The three main bathing beaches in the municipality of São Filipe will be guarded by lifeguards, from the 10th until the end of September. Swimmers will receive 15,000 escudos per month.
The information was provided by Euclides Fernandes, councilor responsible for the Civil Protection sector of the local authority.
In all, the São Filipe council, in conjunction with the Maritime Port Institute (IMP), will provide eight swimmers/lifeguards for the beaches of Salinas (North), Marmulano (Vale dos Cavaleiros) and Fonte Bila.
In addition to the eight swimmers/lifeguards, the municipality will provide all the materials necessary for this purpose, namely the placement of a surveillance tower and all the materials necessary to perform the functions.
Swimmers will receive 15,000 escudos per month.

As for the watch hours, during the week the swimmers will be on the beaches from 15:00 hours, while on the weekends the watch takes place throughout the day.
The municipality advises bathers and beachgoers to respect the guidelines of swimmers/lifeguards, but also for the collection of all personal objects, as a way of keeping the beaches clean.
Also, in line with the Sanitation Service, the council will analyze the possibility of placing containers near the beaches for the placement of garbage and coordinate with this service how to collect the garbage produced on the beaches.
