The two municipalities have a long tradition of twinning and are about to celebrate 25 years of decentralized cooperation and in addition to the electric vehicle chargers, the municipality of Palmela sent a set of school materials to support students from the municipality of São Filipe.
The areas of education, energy efficiency, environment, solid waste collection, efficient lighting and people training/training have received greater attention within the framework of this twinning.
In terms of efficient lighting, the municipality of Palmela provided São Filipe with more than two hundred LED lamps, which allowed the city council to improve public lighting in the main arteries and streets of the city and surrounding areas.
In 2023, a protocol was signed between the municipalities of Palmela and São Filipe and a company from that Portuguese municipality dedicated to the arts, namely tile painting and pottery, aiming to carry out a training course to empower young people and women so that they can have learning and self-employment that allows them to have some income for their survival in the area of crafts and painting.
For the training, São Filipe received the necessary equipment and materials in an investment of five thousand euros, which arrived on the island last year.
