São Filipe: Organization guarantees that the festival has taken place normally despite the challenges linked to the space

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The company Fogo Entertainment, responsible for organizing the São Filipe festivities at the Presídio, guaranteed today that the activities have taken place normally, despite the challenges linked to the logistics of the space, which “does not offer adequate structure” for the dance.

Speaking to Inforpress, on the fourth day of the event, which has been taking place since the 25th as part of the São Filipe Municipal Day celebrations, Paulo Brandão said that the current space has “many limitations” such as public buildings, plants and main roads and that Therefore, you must present another proposal to the municipality.

“The logistics at the Prison are complicated because it is an emblematic space with plants that we must protect, with State buildings, Casa das Bandeiras, main roads around it, apart from the dimension of the popular dance itself, the artistic logistics of each band or artist, effects, stage size, the Presidio has already surpassed the limit” he clarified, highlighting that this is the second year at the helm of the activity.

Regarding the organization of the event, he highlighted that he received more than a hundred proposals, 26 of which were from Brazilian artists, explaining that the choice of the artist derives from the will of the public, but that the objective is to bring a mix of different music genres between young artists and those with an established career.

The organization, he highlighted, also tried to favor artists who have been away from the stage for a long time and who have had great successes, such as Marisa do Rosário, who performed for the first time in Fogo, group X Treme, Ravy H and Dom Kikas.

Asked about the delays in the start of the festival, he said that the blame should not be attributed to the organization as it has respected the schedule, unlike the public.

“The technical team is present, the police too, the music starts at 23:00, we’ve tried every way, but people don’t arrive before 00:00, we always start around midnight, a time that It doesn’t make it easier for the first ones to perform, so society has to adapt to popular dances,” he pointed out, asserting that latecomers cause “great losses” for the organization.

On the poster, the headliner of this edition is the Angolan artist Matias Damásio, who performs today and for the first time on the São Filipe festival.

Tony Fika, Grace Évora, Marizia do Rosário, Filipe Pereira, António Silvam Buguin Martins, Neyna, Neusa de Pina, Fil G, Nhô Nany and Elji Beatzkilla are other names on the list during these show days.
