Africa-Press – Cape verde. The opening of the White Night, the first of five nights of festival/dance festivities for the Municipality Day and Flag Day celebrations in São Filipe, was marked by a late arrival of the public, who showed up in reduced numbers at the scheduled time.
The Praça do Presídio, the main stage for the cultural activities of the festivities, registered fewer than one hundred people at midnight, the scheduled start time for the festival/dance, despite the city hall’s assurance that all technical conditions were in place for the start of the first of five nights of entertainment.
The Secretary of Culture highlighted that the main problem continues to be the public’s failure to adhere to schedules, a situation that has hampered the start of the activities.
Even so, the night saw delays in the program, with the artist Trakinus, responsible for the opening, taking the stage only at 1:15 am, more than an hour later than scheduled.
For this Tuesday, the festivities program features several initiatives, notably a business workshop promoted by Garantia Seguros, as well as the launch of the books “In the Name of Future Reason: Radiography, Witnesses and Correspondence,” by Commander Silvino da Luz, and “Cape Verde: Paths, Ruptures and Paradoxes,” by sociologist Júlio Correia.
The agenda also includes the continuation of the business and health fair, traditional activities such as mortar and pestle work, and another edition of “São Filipe in Motion,” in Alameda de Cruz dos Passos, with entertainment by Mixibioti, Pó de Lume, Trio Vibe, Gildo, and DJ Márcio.
The day ends with the second night of the festival/dance, called “ladies night,” which will feature performances by Denis Graça, Ceuzany, Indira, MC Acondize, and DJ Baby Girl.
