Africa-Press – Cape verde. In an interview with the press, the mayor of Ribeira Brava, Nilton Monteiro, stated that it is a project that includes more than eighteen actions and is of “extreme importance” for the municipality.
According to the mayor, the instrument covers pillars such as access to sustainable energy, sustainable agriculture, water mobilization, forest protection, among several other actions to be implemented during the plan’s validity.
In turn, the leader of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), Rosalina Silva, highlighted the importance of the Climate Action Plan which, according to her, will contribute to the sustainable development of the municipality.
The PAICV elected official also gave a positive assessment of the work of the second ordinary session of the municipal assembly, where she also highlighted the approval of the municipality’s staff structure.
On the side of the Democracy Movement, the leader, Eneida Morais, also highlighted the importance of the approval of the plan, unanimously, highlighting that some actions had already been carried out by the previous team, but that it was necessary to bring the document for approval at the assembly.
According to Eneida Morais, this is a “very important” plan, which is why she hopes that, within the scope of the plan, “major works will be carried out in the municipality”.
On the other hand, the elected official highlighted the fact that her group found that the mayor does not use the official residence, preferring to live in a rental property, benefiting from a subsidy for this purpose “which was not approved by the City Council”.
The Ribeira Brava Municipal Assembly also approved the municipal council’s management account for the 2024 financial year.
