Africa-Press – Cape verde. São Salvador do Mundo, in the interior of Santiago, celebrates, this Tuesday, the 17th anniversary of its proclamation as a municipality, after having disintegrated from the territory of Santa Catarina de Santiago, in 2005.
To commemorate the date, the county has been hosting, since yesterday, the “Picos Feira Criativa” fair, following which confectioners of sweets and cakes from the county will be honored, in addition to a parade of arts and cultural entertainment.
From 4 pm, the Solemn Session of the Municipal Assembly takes place, followed by the inauguration, at 5 pm, of the tourist information center “Picarte”.

Seventeen years after its separation from the municipality of Santa Catarina, the municipality of São Salvador do Mundo continues, however, to share some services, such as the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA), the Health Department and the Court.
The municipality does not yet have commercial banks. On the other hand, it has City Hall, Cape Verde Post Office, Parish Church, Ministry of Education Delegation, Health Centre, Registry and Notary Office, Police Station and a secondary school.
With a territory of 31 square kilometers, the municipality of São Salvador do Mundo, made up of a parish with the same name, is known for its industrial tradition (metallurgical, mechanical and metalworking), and for its agricultural, tourist and weaving potential. .
