Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Police, in São Vicente, seized 13 vehicles and arrested 10 drivers without a license, last Friday, in a mega-operation, as explained by the corporation’s spokesman, Elvis Leite.
The so-called mega-operation lasted three hours, between 16:00 and 19:00, on Friday, 21st, and involved 76 officers, who approached 135 individuals on the public road.
Of these, according to the same source, 47 were subjected to searches, of which four were taken to the police station for identification.

The PN spokesman in São Vicente also informed that 18 commercial establishments were inspected, of which one was closed due to lack of documentation, and an individual was arrested, in flagrante delicto, for possession of narcotics.
The activity was part of the Summer 2023 Operational Plan for Safety, hence the self and pedestrian inspection/awareness raising in four bathing areas, namely Laginha, Pedra d’Dóca, Cova d’Inglesa and Lazareto, due to the movement of people during this season.
Increase feeling of security
The mega-operation aimed to prevent the occurrence of crimes and contribute to increasing citizens’ sense of security, according to the spokesman for the PN Command in São Vicente.
It involved approaches on public roads, identification of suspects, control of sensitive points and suspected locations for the sale and consumption of psychotropic and narcotic substances, identification/arrest of individuals in illegal possession of weapons, inspection and awareness raising in commercial establishments, road inspection and also patrolling bathing areas, both car and pedestrian.
