Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, denied, Tuesday, 28, that there is a political crisis in the municipality he directs and accused the councilors elected in the opposition parties of wanting to “make disorder”.
In reaction to criticism from the PAICV Political Commission, which classified the Government’s stance as “total neglect” and accused Augusto Neves of wanting to condition the island and the civil movements SOKOLS and MDSV (Movement for the Development of São Vicente), Neves said no. be time for “opportunists” and “political profiteers”, who had the opportunity to present their projects in the elections but chose to “run away”.
“São Vicente is not experiencing any crisis. The crisis is installed in the head and perverse mind of opportunists who take advantage of disagreements that can exist all over the world, in any Chamber or Government with various political parties, to add fuel to the fire”, he defended.
As for councilors elected in opposition parties, Neves said that what is happening in the chamber is not a political crisis, but an identity crisis. “They don’t know what they want, they don’t see themselves on this island, they want to make disorder”, he accused.
Augusto Neves also ruled out the need for midterm elections which, he considers, are not the best way out, with two years to go before the end of the mandate.
