Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, assured this Friday, in Mindelo, that he might take a “drastic measure” and remove the responsibilities of all opposition councilors due to “total loss of trust”.
The mayor reacted at a press conference, the decision of the councilor for Road Safety, in consultation with other opposition councilors, the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID) and the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), to order remove this morning the separators of the “half-pedestrian” made on Road Cristiano de Sena Barcelos, Mindelo city center.
Anilton Andrade said he had not received any information about the project, which he classified as an “affront” to road safety, and therefore ordered the removal of potted plants placed in the center of the street and the recently posted traffic signs, something that under the supervision of the National Police.
Augusto Neves, who called the councilors “real troublemakers”, said that they destroyed a “hard-working project” that was discussed at the Forum Thinking São Vicente, held last January, and discussed by the Technical Office.
“This is an extremely serious conduct, because they deceived the National Police, which they contacted on behalf of the chamber, but the president is the one who signs the projects and licenses”, underlined the mayor, for whom the act “creates a whole distrust and disorganization”.
