São Vicente: “Augusto Neves should be in jail for harmful management”, accuses the president of the UCID

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the UCID declared today, in a press conference, in Mindelo, that the mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, if he were living in another country, “he would be in jail for harmful management” of municipal heritage.

João Santos Luís, president of the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID), responded to Neves’ accusation the day before, also at a press conference, according to which the UCID has hampered municipal action, in a “clear persecution” and “attempt to overthrow the council”, all as a result of the loss of the municipal budget for 2024.

“Any citizen who reads the audit of the city council’s management, and in a country where things worked properly, Augusto Neves should be held criminally responsible, sitting in the dock and in jail for damaging management,” said Santos Luís, for whom this doesn’t happen because “we are in a country like Cape Verde where things don’t work properly”.

“The Politicians use and abuse the public purse, and the MpD is strong in this, and there is no one to take charge of this shamelessness,” he accused.
