Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Centre for Gender and Family Research (CIGEF) of the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) opens today, in Mindelo, a debate to gathering inputs for a research/action project on responsible parenting and positive masculinities.
According to CIGEF researcher and co-coordinator of the project, Celeste Fortes, the idea is to “put our finger on the pulse’” on sociocultural and gender “uses and appropriations” of family laws in Cabo Verde, and the dialogues the family law has established, can and should establish with the social sciences.
“Considering a time and socio-historical horizon of independence and the consequent need for a legal framework that mirrors greater dialogue between law and sociocultural practices, how the sociocultural appropriation of family laws in Cabo Verde has happened”, questioned the same source, reinforcing the idea of creating spaces for dialogue with different actors, who in everyday life relate to the world of family law in Cabo Verde.
On the other hand, Celeste Fortes said that, taking into account the results of the seminar, the idea is to “design a research project” for the deepening of the debate, based on social science research tools.
