Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister said Wednesday in Mindelo that the State must do what is its obligation and responsibility to children, but reiterated that the first responsibility begins in the family at home.
Ulisses Correia e Silva was speaking at the main event of the World Children’s Day celebrations, June 1, in the Jotamont Academy Auditorium, which was attended by 250 children and adolescents from the island of São Vicente.
“The State does and must do what is its obligation, responsibility, but the first responsibility begins in the family at home. And the family have not only conditions, but this obligation to ensure that we can have protection, care and ensure a home to develop happiness for children”, warned the Head of Government.
However, according to Ulisses Correia e Silva, his Government has been implementing integrated and consistent policies for children, which he wants to develop more and more, starting with education. One of the objectives, he said, is to implement the universalization of pre-school education in kindergarten, through subsidization so that in all families there can be access and frequency of children in kindergarten.
