Africa-Press – Cape verde. This Friday, in São Vicente, the sixth absolute individual national chess championship begins. The competition has the participation of 26 chess players, including the five regional champions.
According to information from the Cape Verdean Chess Federation (FCX), the tournament takes place from Friday, 14th, to Sunday, 16th, at the Grémio Desportivo Amarante facilities.
The competition, according to the same source, will be played in five rounds using the Swiss pairing system and each player will have 90 minutes to play, with a 30-second bonus for each move made.
Presence of regional champions
The championship will have the participation of 26 athletes, including the five regional champions, these being Sandro Leite for São Vicente, Lian Fonseca representing São Nicolau, José Carlos Vaz from Cidade da Praia, Rui Vera-Cruz de Santo Antão and Luís Barros do Sal .
Those registered, said the federation, also defend the colors of eight national clubs.
The first three classified in this preliminary phase qualify for the final phase of the absolute individual national championship 2022, which takes place from December 5th to 11th.
The competition, according to FCX, will be broadcast from the first eight tables, live to the whole world, and the transmission through several platforms has already been confirmed.
