Africa-Press – Cape verde. Mindelo, 18 May (Inforpress)- More than 60 students, aged six years, receive training in percussion techniques, with the ‘Bateria Afroritmo’ Project to integrate the Ritmo do Norte Drums, the future batucada of the Carnival group Cruzeiros do Norte.
This information was forwarded to Inforpress by drum master Nuno Gonçalves who develops the ‘Percussion Workshop ‘Bateria Afroritmo’, one of the five São Vicente projects selected to be financed by the Culture Access Scholarship, promoted by the Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries.
The invitation, according to the same source, came from the Carnival group Cruzeiros do Norte direction and the idea is to offer percussion classes to the Cruz João Évora community, in the multipurpose, to provide the group with a structure that can accompany it in all its activities.
“The Bateria Ritmo do Norte Project is an idea of Cruzeiros do Norte, considering that the group has been working with service-providing drums. But now we are doing a pioneering thing in the group that will be rooted”, explained Nuno Gonçalves.
