Africa-Press – Cape verde. The island of São Vicente did not organize official activities to mark the 47 years of national independence, registering, essentially, some initiatives of the population, namely social outings between family and friends in allusion to the date.
Thus, on the part of the central and local authorities, in principle there are no official events for today, which contrasts with the fact that the island of São Vicente was one of the most active in the process that led to the conquest of national independence.
Still at the level of initiatives by the population, there is the inauguration of a sports and cultural space, while on the night of this Monday, 04, around 22:00, some fireworks were heard and seen.
The 5th of July 1975 is considered by Cape Verdeans as the greatest date and an “important and historic” milestone for the archipelago.
