Africa-Press – Cape verde. School textbooks from the 1st to the 8th grade are already available on the market, assures the minister of education, Amadeu Cruz. However, only in 2025/26 will all manuals from 1st to 12th be available.
According to the minister, this school year there will be no problems with manuals for the 1st to 8th year of schooling, in all subject areas, because they are already in stationery stores across the country.
As for the 9th grade, he added, they are in the process of being prepared, with financing from the World Bank.
“We are in the process of public contracting and we hope to have the manuals as soon as possible. But, the normal process of public acquisition is underway and we will wait, but there is funding mobilized for the preparation and production of the 9th grade manuals”, said the Governor, advancing, however, that the 10th grade books will only be available in 2023/24 .

Amadeu Cruz expects to have all manuals available by 2025/26.
“First we have to prepare and validate the programs of the different subjects, which will be in an experimental phase for a year, and only in 2023/24 will we be able to produce new manuals for the 10th year, and so on, until we are in a position to complete the manuals from the 1st to the 12th grade”.
The minister was speaking as part of a visit to some schools in São Vicente, to prepare for the start of the new academic year.
