Siprofis repudiates acts of violence against teachers and calls for “firm preventive measures”

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Siprofis repudiated this Wednesday the acts of violence that occurred at the Calabaceira School, “perpetrated by a student against teachers” and urges those responsible for educational policies to take “firm measures” to combat and prevent violence in schools.

In a press release sent to Inforpress, the Teachers’ Union (Siprofis) stated that “violence in schools is unacceptable and represents a threat not only to educators, but also to the learning environment and the well-being of all students”.

Mutual respect and safety, explains the management of this union organization, must be fundamental pillars of the school environment, and any form of physical or verbal aggression goes against these principles.

In presenting its total solidarity with the teachers affected by this incident, Siprofis management considers it “imperative that these professionals are supported and protected, both emotionally and physically”.

“In addition, SIPROFIS strongly recommends the implementation of additional security measures in schools in order to prevent future episodes of violence. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure a safe school environment that is conducive to students’ academic and personal development”, says the source.

The union urges the competent authorities, as well as those responsible for educational policies, to take firm measures to combat and prevent violence in schools, stressing that this challenge requires a concerted and urgent approach.

“SIPROFIS remains committed to defending the rights and safety of teachers, as well as the quality of education in general. Together, we can and must work to create a school environment where everyone feels safe, respected and able to thrive”, concluded the communication.
