Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Social Workers Association, Paula Fortes, recognized, in the City of Praia, there is a lack of knowledge and recognition of the work done by the class in Cabo Verde.
“The biggest challenge is the valorization of the profession in the country,” said Paula Fortes, who spoke to Inforpress on the occasion of the World Social Work Day that is held annually on May 15.
The leader of the Social Workers Association took stock of what has been the work done by professionals in the field, mentioning that they have been working in various sectors, namely social assistance, social reintegration of prisoners, drug addicts, family, inclusion and social protection and health.
However, the professionals have been facing some challenges, such as the non-performance of the class in fundamental areas for any country, namely in the justice sector (public prosecutors’ offices and courts), which in her view would be an interesting field for the performance of professionals, education, as she argued, “is fundamental”, above all, high drop-out rates.
