State Accounts 2020: Deputies authorized expenses beyond those provided for in the budgetary framework law – TC

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Court of Auditors (TC), João da Cruz Silva, today pointed out that national deputies had authorised spending beyond what was provided for in the budget framework law for the 2020 General State Account.

Speaking to the press after being heard by the Specialised Finance and Budget Commission (CEFO), João da Cruz Silva said that these expenses amount to five billion escudos, which is around 3.3 percent (%) of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“This controversy was raised in the media, but we ended up clarifying, it’s published in the Official Gazette, that the deputies authorised expenditure beyond what is provided for in the budget framework law,” he explained, stressing that the Court of Auditors works with what is published in the Official Gazette.

“We don’t know if there was a vote with a reinforced majority, but the truth is that it is published in the official bulletin. The Law 2020 of 11 August clearly demonstrates that expense authorization beyond what is provided for in the Budget Framework Law, ”he said.
