Africa-Press – Cape verde. Prices remained stationary during the month of January, in Cape Verde, compared to January 2023, announced this Saturday, February 17th, the National Statistics Institute (INE) in the usual inflation bulletin.
According to Lusa, without changes to the basket that serves as the basis for INE’s analysis, the annual inflation rate remained at 0%, prolonging the downward trend in prices over the last year.
Cape Verde closed 2023 with inflation of 1.3%, a strong slowdown compared to the 7.6% that had been recorded in 2022.
In details for the month of January this year, the underlying inflation indicator (total index excluding energy and unprocessed food goods) showed a year-on-year variation of -0.1%.
The product classes that contributed most to the slowdown in price increases in January were transport, food and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as accessories, household equipment and current home maintenance services, says the source of this newspaper.
