Portuguese Ambassador to Cape Verde, António Albuquerque Moniz says that Portugal grants 2970 visas to Cape Verdean students who intend to continue their studies in this European country, only in this academic year 2021/2022. The statement followed the demonstration held on Friday, 4th, in front of the Portuguese embassy, in Praia.
According to TCV, which cites statements by the Portuguese ambassador in Praia, António Moniz, rejection rates tend to drop thanks to the CPLP mobility agreement.
António Moniz preferred not to go into details of the demonstration carried out by students on Friday, 4, against alleged delays, lack of information and bureaucracy in granting visas at the Portuguese embassy, considering that this exit to the streets is a right in Cape Verde.
However, he pointed out that this academic year alone, the consular section of the Portuguese embassy in Praia has already granted 2,970 study visas and guarantees that the only pending requests, at this moment, are part of a list that was delivered approximately two weeks ago.

It should be remembered that in the demonstration in front of the Portuguese Embassy, in Achada Santo António, Praia, last Friday, 4, young students called for “more respect” and “speed” in obtaining a visa for Portugal, accusing the embassy of to make them “pay the blame” for students who had traveled before and who did not continue their studies.
