Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Sociedade Ultramarina de Conservas (SUCLA), in Tarrafal de São Nicolau, will receive an amount of approximately half a million dollars from the United States, to increase its exports to the USA. The support takes place within the framework of the commercial and economic partnership to support the private sector in the archipelago.

The guarantee was given by the US ambassador to Cape Verde, Jeff Daigle, during the signing of the protocol with the SUCLA factory, one of the beneficiary companies of the US Government fund to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic.

“The project we launched today is yet another testament to our commercial and economic partnership to support the Cape Verdean private sector, that is, it is a way of supporting economic recovery,” he said. The financing, he guarantees, will enable SUCLA to increase exports to the United States.

“This project will enable SUCLA to further increase exports to the United States, reinforcing and creating more sales opportunities in the United States and we are very proud to work with Cape Verde”, he guaranteed.

Francisco Spencer, manager of the SUCLA plant, also reinforced the importance of this financing in the expansion of the company. “This funding attributed to SUCLA will have a major impact on the company and on the economic growth of this island, and will increase production and consequently increase the number of jobs”, he stressed. The US ambassador to Cape Verde also spoke with shipowners and a group of women from the SUCLA factory.
