TACV decides to implement the collective suspension of employment contracts as an alternative measure to lay-off

Africa-Press – Cape verde. TACV decided to implement the suspension of employment contracts as an “exceptional and temporary measure” for future protection of jobs under the Labour Code, with effect from January 1, 2022.

In a letter addressed to the workers’ unions and to which Inforpress had access, TACV’s chairman of the board of directors, Sara Pires, explained that the measure aims, above all, to deal with the end of the validity of the simplified lay-off scheme adopted by the Government as an exceptional and temporary measure to protect jobs, due the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the same source, with the end of the lay-off all companies, even in situations of “sharp drop in invoicing, as is the case of TACV”, are obliged to receive and pay all workers who until then were in simplified lay-off regime.

The company had joined in April 2020 the lay-off regime, as established by Decree-Law No. 83/2020 of April 4, placing in this regime more than 75 percent (%) of its employees.
