Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cabo Verde Air Carrier (TACV) needs to lay off 42 of the more than 200 workers to maintain balance, the chairman of the board of directors, Sara Pires, said Monday.
The official, who spoke to reporters in the middle of a hearing in the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPI) of the National Assembly to privatize the Cabo Verdean company, said, however, that the dismissal will only happen in the last case.
“The company needs to be resized to live up to the number of aircraft we have planned to operate. There are three devices and with that we record overstaffing has to be dismissed. We prioritize the pre-retirement agreement and mutual agreement. Redundancies will always be the last case and this process has been taking place in a natural way”, he said.
Sara Pires said that the TACV’s management biggest challenge is to keep the company flying, especially at this time, when the company’s financial situation has worsened with increases in fuel prices.
