Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Education reinforced today his determination to continue the strategic consultation with the unions, with a view to revising the Career Statute of Teaching Staff, after stabilization and normalization of teachers’ careers. On the day dedicated to teachers, Amadeu Cruz highlighted the key role that the class has played in the fight against the pandemic, as one of the main promoters of good personal and community hygiene practices.
In his message addressed to teachers, whose day is celebrated today, April 23, Amadeu Cruz reaffirmed that the Government will create “all the legislative and technological conditions” for the deepening of the implementation of the National System of Teacher Training, in order to “value and dignify” the teaching class even more and provide conditions of motivation and competence for the exercise of their function.
The Ministry of Education, as he said, has been in an open and frank dialogue with the unions and teachers, and the Government has mobilized budgetary means to resolve the situation of “labour precariousness installed at the sector level since 2008”, resolving the “overwhelming most outstanding issues” and benefiting more than 7,000 teachers.
“Equally, the commitment of the Education System Reform and of raising the quality of the educational sector indicators must be highlighted”, he underlined, pointing to the approval of the curricular reform of the 1st to 12th year of schooling, of the national system of assessment of learning. , the extension of compulsory education up to the 8th grade, free access and reinforcement of school social action and educational inclusion.
“The Government, as a whole, is working hard to mobilize resources, both endogenous and international cooperation, to reinforce and consolidate the Education System Reform, in progress, as well as for the operationalization of the National Teacher Training System, through the restructuring of the Educational Communication System and the creation of a Technological Network for Distance Learning”, listed the minister.
“We keep and reinforce the word given and the commitment made, with the unions and with the teachers, to do everything in order for the Government to conclude, by the end of the 2023 budget execution, the resolution of the pending issues left to accumulate since 2008 and still prevailing” , assured.
The minister took the opportunity to “greet and congratulate” the teachers who, as he said, in this time marked by the consequences of crises and exogenous shocks, have proved to be heroic in the fight against the pandemic and, more than that, have always remained in line ahead of the progress achieved so far by the country, especially in literacy, education and training of different generations.
