Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sindprof) called for a national demonstration of teachers, which should take place on Monday in the central square of each municipality.
According to the call made by Sindprof, this demonstration is an initiative of teachers and must be supported by all three union representatives of the teaching class.
The union explained that the objective is to defend the dignity of the teaching class, which is why it called on them to join so that they can assert their rights.
“In a single voice, in all municipalities, teachers are invited to take to the streets dressed in black with the aim of showing their dissatisfaction with the way they have been treated by the Government”, wrote the union, adding that what has been “assisted is a total lack of respect and devaluation of a class that has given everything of itself and in return is disrespected and devalued”.
The range of demands includes the demand for better salaries for teachers, career promotion for teachers, recovery of teachers’ dignity with the appreciation of their class, regularization of social security coverage that allows them to benefit from better medical and medication assistance conditions. .
They also ask for attention to teachers with mental health problems, the payment of salaries for new teachers who have not yet received their salaries for the months of December and January.
