Africa-Press – Cape verde. The 50 Pessoas Theatre Company presents on July 5, at the Cultural Centre of Mindelo, the play “Poemas de Liberdade”, in a single show, which involves social criticism and the recreation of a historical event.
According to director Yannick Fortes, this is the 13th theatrical production in the eight years of existence of the 50 Pessoas Theatre Company, and the starting point for play are poems by Amílcar Cabral and Jorge Barbosa, in a historical recreation of events of July 5, 1975, besides being a form of celebration of the 47th anniversary of National Independence.
In addition to poems, said the same source, it will be a show full of music, from Cabo Verde and abroad, in this second case with themes by Chico Buarque (Brazil) and Zeca Afonso (Portugal), played by actor and musician from Mindelo Stefi.
According to the same source, based on the research work that preceded the staging, he realized that there is “some ignorance” about the events of Independence, especially the youth.
