Africa-Press – Cape verde. The theft of Cabo Verde Telecom poles in the municipality of São Domingos, a “recurring situation”, has put at risk the services provided by this company and the most recent case happened last Saturday, January 8.

Given this situation, according to the operational and maintenance director of CV Telecom, Almiro Rocha, the company is obliged to take its task force to the ground for the replacement of services with the “greatest possible urgency”, so that customers are not harmed.

“This situation is already recurrent in the surrounding area of Monte Vaca, passing through Ribeirão Chiqueiro, Praia Baixo and Rui Vaz”, he reported, pointing out that in the year there were more than 40 cuts of services caused by the action of third parties, mainly by acts of vandalism.

According to Almiro Rocha, the last action of the vandals consisted of cutting poles corresponding to about one kilometer of cables to be replaced, as well as their supports.

The traces found at the site, including chainsaws and tire signs reveal that the perpetrators of these vandalisms are prepared for this type of action, said Almiro Rocha.
