Africa-Press – Cape verde. The port of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, has six cruise ship calls scheduled for December, a period expected to see “high traffic” in terms of tourism, according to the calendar released this Wednesday by Enapor.
The first call of the month, according to Enapor – Ports of Cape Verde, is scheduled for next Thursday, the 4th.
Furthermore, the Porto Novo Tourist Office encouraged local operators to prepare to receive tourists, classifying the increase in calls as an “extraordinary opportunity” for Santo Antão to “show the world the cultural richness, hospitality and talent” of the region.
Harmony V is the first ship to arrive in Santo Antão this Thursday, with confirmed calls also for December 11th, 18th and 25th.
The port of Porto Novo will also receive the MS Hamburg on December 20th and the Corinthian on December 27th.
Cruise ship passengers arrive in Santo Antão seeking nature, culture, crafts, and gastronomy, according to the tourism center, which stated that the arrival of the ships constitutes “an excellent opportunity” to promote services, sell products, share experiences, and boost the economy.
The first cruise ship calls in Santo Antão this season took place in November, when three cruise ships visited the island.
The cruise season in Cape Verde began in September and extends until June 2026, during which time 165 ship calls are expected at the country’s ports.
