Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verde women’s football team takes the field this afternoon, at 4 pm, against Mauritania, at Estádio Marcelo Leitão, on the island of Sal, looking to guarantee passage to the semi-finals of the West African Union of Federations Tournament (UFOA).

The Cape Verdeans need a draw to secure first place in Group A, as they beat Guinea-Bissau 4-0 in their opening game.

In the event of a tie, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau, also with three points, will move on to the semi-finals, with Mauritania having to beat Cape Verde in order to qualify.

Senegal’s selection is the first semi-finalist in the competition after beating The Gambia by 4-1 this Monday, in a game counting for the second round of group B. In the other match, Guinea-Conakry beat Sierra Leone by 1- 0.

In the accounts of group B, Senegal, already qualified, leads with six points, followed by Gambia and Guinea-Conakry with three points each, and Sierra Leone without any point.

Next round

On the next round, scheduled for Wednesday, the 25th, Guinea-Conakry faces The Gambia, in the match that defines the other semifinalist, and Senegal will measure forces with Sierra Leone.

Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and Mauritania are included in Group A, while the national teams of Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Sierra Leone and Gambia share Group B.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the semifinals -finals.

The regional competition takes place from the 20th of January until the 1st of February, on the island of Sal.
