Africa-Press – Cape verde. Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva announced this Tuesday that there will be changes in the Government to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of governance, in order to have a functional structure capable of meeting the country’s demands.
“I have the responsibility of defining the Government, its composition, of seeing that there are several balances that need to be made in the composition of the Government”, stated the head of the Government, during his participation in the “Café Central” program on Rádio de Cabo Verde.
During the interview, Ulisses Correia e Silva explained that the balance in the distribution of portfolios is crucial for its functioning, highlighting the impossibility of grouping areas such as Justice and Internal Administration under a single ministry due to possible institutional conflicts.
Correia e Silva recalled that, in 2016, the Government started with only 12 ministers, but this soon proved to be “insufficient” for the complexity of government management.
According to the minister, the structure needs to be adjusted to ensure that all areas operate effectively and without overlapping competences.
Ulisses Correia e Silva, who is also the president of the MpD, assured that the party will be “strong” in terms of its structures and will prepare for the next legislative elections in 2026 and bring to Cape Verdeans the prospects for the near future.
He announced the holding of general stadiums of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), an initiative that aims to promote meetings and debates with different segments of society, aligning proposals and programs for the period 2026-2031.
The objective, according to Ulisses Correia e Silva, is to build a solid perspective for the near future, integrating the expectations of Cape Verdeans into governance policies and programs.
