Uni-Piaget promotes blood donation with students to mark World Health Day

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Jean Piaget University (Uni-Piaget) organizes a blood donation campaign on Tuesday, 9th, as part of World Health Day, and, in addition to supporting the Blood Bank, takes the opportunity to raise students’ awareness of the cause.

Speaking to Inforpress, the coordinator of the Nursing Course, Ana Moniz, considered that blood donation translates into an “important act of saving lives” and that the university has always supported the Blood Bank of the Agostinho Neto University Hospital with initiatives from the gender.

“This year is the first time that we are carrying out this activity, but it is an initiative carried out every year, we have a partnership with the Blood Bank, in which the hospital requests us and we always try to organize with students and teachers to do blood donation”, noted the coordinator.

An action that has had a “good response” from donors, including students and staff, in addition to lectures to talk about the importance of donating blood.

“Since last week, we started publicizing the campaign in order to obtain a greater number of donors, mainly from students on health courses such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmaceuticals and Clinical Analysis”, he said.

Ana Moniz also considered that blood donation is relevant and students, being in the health field, are aware of this from an early age, as it is also an act of care.

“It’s good to know that students, in addition to teaching where they receive training to care for people, also already know the importance of donating blood”, he concluded.
