Africa-Press – Cape verde. The 14 firefighters from the São Vicente council, eight permanent staff and six volunteers, must observe six days of strike from the 29th, which demand more staff and the regularization of promotions, Siacsa announced today.
Heidy Andrade, who coordinates the actions of the Union of Industry, General Services, Food, Civil Construction, Agriculture, Private Security and Maritime and Port Services (Siacsa) on the island of São Vicente, recalled, in a press conference, that a year ago it was a memorandum of understanding was signed between the union and the São Vicente chamber, however two of the three points negotiated have so far remained unresolved.
“An understanding was reached regarding the payment of time off, and the chamber is complying, however, in relation to promotions and hiring of more staff during the current year, they have not been fulfilled so far”, declared the union leader.
Therefore, the same source pointed out, a recent meeting between the union and affiliated firefighters decided to proceed with a strike notice from the 29th, and for six days, until January 3, 2024, this time with the participation of not only the eight permanent firefighters, but also the six volunteer firefighters from the Municipality of São Vicente.
