United Nations reaffirms support for Cape Verde’s development

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The United Nations today reaffirmed its support for the development of Cape Verde and praised the country’s certification in the elimination of malaria, in the face of the efforts of the international community and national authorities.

This was the assurance expressed to the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Organisation for West Africa and the Sahel, Leonardo Simão, who took advantage of the audience to also convey António Guterres’ greetings for the progress made in the country.

The country’s certification of malaria elimination, he noted, will bring better living standards and health to the population.

“Cabo Verde is part of West Africa, the region is very affected by security issues, terrorism and Cabo Verde is an exception. In this sense, the peace and stability that remains in Cabo Verde is used for development actions that the country is registering. Progress is being made,” the UN special envoy told the press.
