Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic appealed, this Thursday, 10, to Cape Verdeans and public and private institutions to exercise moderation in the management of assets, so that the country can face “the most difficult times ahead”.
“We have to have an absolutely pedagogical stance here regarding the future”, he explained, indicating that the consequences are still unimaginable, and that there will still be an increase and problems in the distribution of certain essential goods such as corn, wheat and fertilizers.
Red Cross José Maria Neves praised the “extraordinary” work that the Cape Verde Red Cross has done over the years, but called on the institution to “make a careful management” and “carefully” manage the assets placed at its disposal.
“We have to be aware that we are in a very difficult situation and now the war in Europe, which will, on the one hand, make raw materials more expensive, will trigger an escalation of generalized price increases and will also have consequences at the level of food goods, and being a An extremely vulnerable country, we have to take care of our food security”, he noted.
Along the same lines, he appealed to the Red Cross to manage “very carefully” the goods that are made available to it, namely the revenue from the concession of social games.
In view of the ongoing geopolitical changes, the President of the Republic considered that Cape Verde, as a small country, must position itself “intelligently” and adapt to the changes that are taking place.
On the other hand, he also encouraged the Red Cross, together with other similar institutions, to commit to a “good national policy for the prevention of disasters”, including, of course, the education of people, which is “an essential aspect for citizenship”. The ceremony was attended by the presidents of the Red Cross of Cape Verde, Portugal and Senegal.
