Africa-Press – Cape verde. The São Vicente women’s futsal team was crowned this Monday, September 4th, champion of the first edition of the Inter-Island Women’s Futsal Championship that took place on the island of Boa Vista since August 27th. The São Vicentinas, who beat the Sal team 5-4 in the final, also won the majority of individual awards.
The winning goal for the São Vicente team came in the last minute of the second stoppage time through Djúa, who, remember, had already scored two goals for the São Vicente team.
The remaining two goals for the São Vicente team in this final were scored by Aicha Lopes, nicknamed “Hurricane” by the fans, and who also ended up winning the Best Player trophy in this first edition of the Women’s Inter-Island Futsal Championship.
The goals for the Sal island team were scored by players Kellisa (one goal), Lory (two goals) and Nely (one goal).
São Vicente team won all games
In the final of the match, the coach of the São Vicente team, Ermelinda Ferreira, in an interview with journalists considered that it was a game between two “great teams” that fought until the final, but what counts are the goals.
“Thank God we were one goal up. I am extremely happy, I have no words to describe my team. We came with everything and thank God we go with the cup”, said Ermelinda Ferreira, thanking the technical team and highlighting the fact that they only left the tournament with victories in the competition games.
She thanked the São Vicenteans, those who reside on the island of Boa Vista and supported the team, the futsal official group in Cape Verde, and the Boa Vista Futsal Center for the “extraordinary” work they did to hold the tournament.
“We know it’s not easy, but the organizers made it happen and we achieved our goal. It was hard work that we started in São Vicente and continued in Boa Vista, and we believe in the same and when that happens there is nothing impossible. Today we fought and at various times we lost our balance, but we thought about what made us come here”, she congratulated, thanking once again those who support women’s futsal in Cape Verde.
