Africa-Press – Cape verde. On the date on which World Teachers’ Day is celebrated, the Teachers’ Union of the island of Santiago (SIPROFIS) appeals to the Ministry of Education to resolve all problems that affect the class, especially with regard to the automatic promotion of all the teachers.
In a statement released this Wednesday, the 5th, the union representation recalls that it has been eight years since the Teaching Staff Career Statute was published, but that, even so, the career of teachers in Cape Verde has been ” stop in time”.
Therefore, it asks for a law measure, which establishes the automatic promotion of all teachers, in addition to other pending issues and acquired rights.
It also urges compliance with the commitments made at the recent UN Summit for the Transformation of Education.
A necessary step, he considers, especially for a country that participated in the recent UN Summit for the Transformation of Education, held in New York, with leaders taking on extremely important commitments for their respective countries.
Among the commitments made, he recalls, is the increase in investment in quality public education systems, guaranteeing labor rights and decent working conditions, investing in training, trusting and respecting teachers and involving unions in political decisions, through dialogue Social.
“Once these commitments are made, the trade union organization hopes that the State Budget will reflect the means to improve the professional conditions of teachers in 2023”, he challenges.
World Teachers Day has been celebrated since, drawing attention to the social importance of the teaching profession and the need for its dignification, as an essential condition for the appreciation of school and education. This year the celebrations take place around the motto “The transformation of Education starts with the Teachers”.
