Young Leaders: Applications for funding of sports projects until 20 October

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Applications for the Young Leaders program of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are now open until October 20th. It serves to support young people in the development and implementation of social projects, using sport as a basis for developing their communities.

Any young person between the ages of 20 and 28 who wants to make a difference in their community through sport can apply.

The application, according to information from the IOC, can be done until 20 October 2022.

Afterwards, 25 young leaders will be selected for a four-year follow-up program, which, among other things, includes funding, network support, tools and experience to become social entrepreneurs, with a focus on sport as a means of community development.

The project, which meets the UN’s sustainable development goals, focuses on peace and gender equality, respect and tolerance.

Launched in 2016, so far, the project has directly benefited more than 35,000 people, training 90 young leaders from 66 countries.

In addition, 18 IOC Young Leaders serve as members of the IOC commission, strengthening the position of young people in decision-making about the future of sport and its multiplier effect of inclusive development of communities.
