Africa-Press – Cape verde. Three brothers, two emigrants to the United States of America and one resident in São Filipe, invested in the creation of the first automotive center in the Fogo/Brava Region called “ Centro Automotivo Monteiro Brothers Motors ” to meet the needs.
The company’s project, which aims to be “innovative and high-tech” for the market on the island of Fogo, according to the managing partner, João Monteiro, was shared with institutions based in São Filipe and next week there will be a similar session in the City of Praia with the Minister of Internal Administration, Paulo Rocha.
João Monteiro said that the idea of investing in this sector arose after observing that there are many areas that work with vehicles, such as painting, mechanics, inspection in a deconcentrated manner and without respecting the municipal code of conduct and, therefore, intends to bring together all these areas in one the only space that will operate in a professional and serious manner.
The center’s values are the reliability and durability of vehicles, through prioritizing the duration of the vehicle’s life cycle, convenience, economy and accessibility, technology and innovation and transparency and commitment, through honesty and total transparency of mechanisms that safeguard interests of customers.
When deciding to invest in the creation of this center, the young people set the objective of contributing to reducing the youth unemployment rate on the island and, according to João Monteiro, the company will guarantee 20 direct jobs and 80 indirect jobs.
Combining innovation and technology, stimulating increased demand and use of electric cars and contributing to regional and national economic growth are other objectives behind the investment.
The “Centro Automotivo Monteiro Brothers Motors”, which will occupy an area of 1,380 square meters, will provide services in the areas of vehicle inspection and diagnosis to identify problems, faults or maintenance needs, repair/maintenance/washing/painting and bodywork , sales stand and rent-a-car services (new and/or used cars and short, medium or long-term rental services), convenience store and automotive products and car price assessment.
João Monteiro also said that the business plan is in the final phase and after presenting the project, the next step is to request financing from credit institutions, adding that if the project is financed, the works will begin in March 2024, and should be completed within four months.
The two brothers, who live in the United States of America, have training in the area, one being an auto mechanic and the other an aviation mechanic, and as they dominate the area of mechanics, the idea, according to the managing partner, is to do it differently and in a bigger way. to the island in an appropriate space, adding that the group already has contacts with main suppliers of materials and equipment.
The mayor of São Filipe, Nuías Silva, present at the presentation, said that the project fits into the vision of a large São Filipe and island of Fogo and congratulated the investors on the initiative to project large investments, even if they are just starting up. in a phased manner until they reach the perspective and grandeur they intend to achieve.
The project also fits into the perspective that the city of São Filipe has of mobilizing direct investments from emigrants, noting that two of the investors reside in the diaspora, United States of America.
“The city council cherishes and will create all the conditions to make investments and we urge other investors to be bold and think big to project because the city council is always available to help, within its competence, to attract projects to the municipal territory and large investments capable of creating jobs for young people and generating innovative solutions in the market, enabling the local economy to develop through the use and reuse of the money generated and produced on the island”, said Nuías Silva.
