Africa-Press – Eritrea. The Agriculture Office in the Northern Red Sea Region conducted an assessment of activities carried out in 2025, in collaboration with partners, and held discussions on programs for 2026.
At the meeting conducted in the port city of Massawa on 30 December, focusing on programs to ensure nutritious food for all and everywhere, reports were presented on water and soil conservation, plant and animal development, agricultural activities and challenges encountered, law and regulatory services, as well as the utilization of organic fertilizers and their advantages.
The report further noted that encouraging small and productive farm plot was carried out in the sub-zones of Nakfa, Afabet, Sheib, Ghinda, and Foro, and that training on the application of organic fertilizer and construction of beehives was provided to farmers.
The participants conducted discussions on the report presented and called for organizing training programs for staff members, integrated efforts for the expansion of small and productive farm plot, and providing due attention to training farmers at farmlands.
Mr. Michael Tekie, Director General of Agriculture and Land, expressed the importance of the role and contribution of agricultural experts in the full utilization of agricultural resources, as well as working closely with farmers for the successful implementation of small and productive farm plot.
