Hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the 2026 World Cup, which is the 23rd edition, introduces a new expanded format: 12 groups of four teams, from which the top two and the eight best third-placed teams will advance to an unprecedented Round of 32.
A global race nearing its final stretch
While one matchday of qualifiers remains, the March international break will determine the final playoff winners from each confederation. Europe has led the way early, with England and France becoming the first UEFA nations to book their tickets.
