Africa-Press – Eritrea. Asmara, 23 December 2020- The national organizations in Italy conducted six months activity assessment meeting on 19 and 20 December.
At the virtual meeting that was attended by 65 representatives of the national organization from 16 Italian cities, Dr. Fesehatsion Petros, Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, gave extensive briefing on the objective situation in the homeland and in the region.
Mr. Ghirmai Habtemicael, head of Public and Community Affairs also delivered activity report of all the national organizations. In his report Mr. Ghirmai expressed appreciation for the contribution the Eritrean nationals made to the effort the Eritrean people and Government are exerting to contain the spread of COVID-19.
According to the report, Eritrean nationals in Italy contributed 413 thousand and 935 Euros to fight the spread of COVID-19, 50 thousand and 613 Euros to combat the desert locust invasion and 26 thousand and 937 Euros to augment the Martyrs Trust Fund.
The participants on their part conducted extensive discussion on the report presented and adopted various recommendations. They also elected five members executive committee for three years term.
