Africa-Press – Eritrea. The African Fencing Championship for Cadets and Juniors, for both sexes, which Angola will host in February 2025, has a pre-budget of three hundred 300 million Kwanzas.

The amount in question will cover all the expenses of the championship, which could see the participation of 22 countries.

The information was released on Friday night, in Luanda, by the president of the Angolan Fencing Federation, Meven Pereira, at a press conference to take stock of the verification visit by the president of the African Confederation, Ndiaye Mbagnick.

The federative leader said that the first step towards realizing the African project in Angola was the approval of the Executive and the second was the visit of the president of the Confederation, who approved the infrastructures.

He said that from Monday onwards the Organizing Committee will be set up for the event to be held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Meven Pereira said that a team from the African Confederation will come to the country in August to assess the progress of organizational aspects.

In turn, the president of the African Confederation, Ndiaye Mbagnick, congratulated Angola for always being present at international events, both competitions and meetings.

According to the interlocutor, this way of being in Angola, in addition to the concern with training staff, contributed to being chosen for the stage of the African youth event.

He recalled that this continental event has already taken place in Ghana, Nigeria and Egypt, which it hosted on two occasions.

He added that the confederation will continue to help Angola in the massification of fencing, with training of staff, due to the interest that the sport arouses, especially among young people.

Fencing is a combat sport that uses foils, swords or sabers.

The fencer’s objective is to touch the opponent with the sword and avoid being touched, being the only form of combat that does not allow body contact.

To practice fencing, it is necessary to wear specific clothing, such as an iron mask (to protect the face) and an electric vest (which identifies touches).

The movements in this sport consist of movements, attacks, arrow, bottom, break, guard and march
